Privacy Policy

Your approximate location

This is the only category of personal data the app collects, and it's used for one thing: telling you the weather where you are.

• The app requests “While Using the App” access only. It never requests background or “Always” access, and it does not run location services when it's closed.
• It requests approximate location, to roughly three kilometres — kCLLocationAccuracyThreeKilometers. It doesn't need your exact position to tell you the weather, so it doesn't ask for it.
• Your latitude, longitude, and nearest place name are stored on your device, so the app and its home-screen widget can show conditions without asking again on every launch.

Places you save, and your settings

If you search for a city or airport and add it to your list, that list is stored on your device. So are your temperature units and colour choice.

That is the complete list of what the app keeps. There's no sign-in, so it never asks for and never receives your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, health data, or payment details.

Who else receives data

To show a forecast, the app has to ask someone what the weather is. Two services are involved, and this is exactly what each one gets.

Both connections use HTTPS.

What we don't do

• No advertising. The app contains no ads and no advertising SDKs.
• No tracking. It doesn't use the Advertising Identifier, doesn't ask for App Tracking Transparency permission, and doesn't track you across other apps or websites.
• No analytics. There's no analytics or crash-reporting SDK collecting your behaviour.
• No selling or sharing. We don't sell, rent, or share your personal information, or use it for advertising or profiling.
• No servers of our own. We don't operate a backend that receives your data. Nothing described above is transmitted to us.

How long it's kept

Everything the app stores is stored on your device, for as long as the app is installed.

• Your cached location is replaced each time the app determines a newer one.
• Saved locations remain until you delete them by swiping them away in the search screen.
• Deleting the app removes all of it from your device.

Because we hold nothing on our own servers, there's no copy for us to keep or delete.

Your choices

• Turn location off at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → RANE°. The app keeps working for locations you've saved manually; it just can't show you the weather where you currently are.
• Remove saved places by swiping to delete them in the search screen.
• Remove everything by deleting the app.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete personal information a company holds about you — including under the EU/UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA).

We can honour these easily, because we hold nothing: all data described here stays on your device and under your control, and deleting the app deletes it. If you'd like to ask us anything about this, contact us using the details below.

We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Because it has no accounts and collects nothing beyond what's described above, it doesn't build a profile of any user, child or adult.

Changes to this policy

If we change what the app collects, we'll update this policy and change the date at the top. Material changes will be reflected in the app's App Store listing.
